The successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive teaching and research of freshwater ecology in the context of landscape planning. The prerequisites are beside an outstanding knowledge of the ecological principles of freshwater ecosystems, excellent knowledge of animal species groups relevant to planning, together with an appropriate Ph. D. thesis and further research experience proven by very good publications, as well as experience of raising research finance and practical experience of how to deal with ecological data in planning processes and teaching experience.
Applicants with a natural science background and proven ability in planning will be considered as well as planners from the field of engineering biology/river restoration or from related disciplines with expertise in aquatic and/or animal ecology. The Department (Fachgebiet) specializes in freshwater ecology, with particular focus on landscape and environment planning. Collaboration with departments that are particularly oriented towards ecology and planning or landscape construction both within the University and at national and international levels is also desirable.
Teaching fulfils all the requirements of the Bachelor and Master degree courses offered by the Faculty, in particular in the Landscape Architecture and Planning degree courses.
In addition to the systematic teaching of the basics of freshwater and animal ecology in landscape planning and the supervision of final degree theses, the successful applicant will also be responsible in particular for supervising study projects carried out within the framework of teaching at various phases of the degree course. Participation on committees of the University's self-management is also expected.
