We are looking for a scientifically outstanding personality, representing the field of "Sustainability Management in the International Food Industry" in research and teaching, with a focus on companies and value chains in local and global contexts in the agricultural and food sector and thus contributing to the consolidation of the profile of Organic Agricultural Sciences.
In organic agriculture and increasingly in the agricultural and food sector in general, the various dimensions of sustainability are of outstanding importance to private-sector companies of very different sizes. In this sense, the professorship focuses on the sustainability dimensions of the areas of international management, strategic planning and corporate governance, controlling and human resource management. Further, it addresses these themes from the perspective of a sustainability transformation of the agricultural and food sector and its value chains. Accordingly, topics such as corporate social responsibility and business responsibility, economy for the common good, as well as new forms of governance and of commercialization and intercultural aspects of corporate and value chain management as well as corresponding transformation knowledge are considered relevant for the professorship. These topics are to be addressed using innovative, quantitative and qualitative research methods, often also in inter- and transdisciplinary research contexts.
The successful candidate is expected to establish courses that offer basic and advanced instruction in the areas of corporate sustainability management, international management, value chain management and corporate transformation management. The professorship should develop and implement committed and innovative teaching formats in the English-language MSc programs such as "International Food Business and Consumer Studies" and "Sustainable International Agriculture" and contribute to the German-language BSc or MSc programs on "Organic Agriculture".
Applicants must have a habilitation or equivalent qualification and relevant, internationally peer-reviewed publications in leading journals in several of the above-mentioned subject areas. Experience in the independent acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects is expected. Didactic competence, teaching experience and the willingness to teach in English and in German, if necessary, after a three-year period to allow for the acquisition of a sufficient level of German, are required, as well as the willingness to participate in university self-governance and international cooperation and the design of interdepartmental research and teaching in the field of sustainability. Own contributions to or documented interest in research questions from the context of organic agriculture are explicitly desired.
The recruitment requirements and performance requirements according to §§ of the Hessian Higher Education Act apply. Participation in the self-administration of the university is expected.
