Research Assistant (m/w/d), EG 13 TV-H, temporary, full-time (currently 40 hours per week)

The position is initially limited for 3 years with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years (qualification position according to § 72 HHG in conjunction with § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of obtaining a PhD is provided.

Tasks:

  • Participation in research and teaching in the field of geotechnical engineering
  • Independent work in a research area of geotechnical engineering

Requirements:

  • Completed course of academic study in civil engineering completed with good to very good results
  • Excellent knowledge of geotechnical engineering
  • Good to very good knowledge in the application of numerical methods in geotechnical engineering, especially FEM
  • Experience in conducting and evaluating soil mechanical laboratory tests
  • Good to very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
  • High level of commitment in supervising students
  • Particularly high motivation, independent working style and sense of responsibility. The required degree must be obtained by the recruitment date at the latest.

Advantageous are:

  • Good knowledge in the use of the FEM software ABAQUS, NUMGEO or Tochnog Professional.
  • Good knowledge of structural engineering
  • Knowledge of the bearing behaviour of foundations under cyclic and dynamic loading
  • Experience in conducting and evaluating geotechnical field and model tests
