We are looking for a scientifically proven personality who comprehensively represents vegetation ecology and soil science in a planning context with a direct connection to landscape ecology in teaching and research. An ecological scientifical research orientation with proven planning relevance in vegetation ecology or related fields with scientific specialization is expected. In addition, very good knowledge of species in various groups in the field of vegetation in Central Europe relevant to planning and experience with relevant methods in ecological research related to planning are required. It is expected that teaching and research in the working group offer a link to planning-conceptual issues including nature conservation. Furthermore, the consideration of urban/suburban and agricultural areas is desired.
We are looking for a person with relevant research experience, a high level of publication activity in international peer-reviewed journals and proven competence in the independent acquisition of third-party funding as well as experience in teaching. Prerequisites are a doctorate and a habilitation (or proof of additional academic achievements). Proven involvement in the national and/or international research community is expected. A willingness to cooperate at the University of Kassel, in particular with ecologically and planning-oriented working groups in the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Planning and beyond is desired.
Teaching includes training in the Faculty's Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, in particular in the Bachelor's degree program in Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning and in the Master's degree program of the same name, here with a focus on the Master's specialization in Environmental Planning and Landscape Management (ULM). The ability to teach courses in German and participation in the certificate program "Biodiversity in Agricultural Landscapes" is expected. In addition to systematic teaching in the field of vegetation and soil science fundamentals in landscape planning and the supervision of theses, the teaching tasks also include the supervision of study projects in various sections of the curriculum. Participation in academic self-administration is part of the duties.
