Doctoral research assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, temporary, part-time (currently 20 hours per week)

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is limited to 4 years (qualification position according to § 72 HessHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 sentence 1 WissZeitVG). The successful applicant may pursue a doctorate in Historical Musicology during the period of employment.


Tasks:

  • Independent research on a doctoral dissertation project in historical musicology (see prerequisites below).
  • Teaching load amounting to 2 hours/week per semester.
  • Participation in academic administration (e.g., contributing to building international cooperation projects).


Requirements:

  • Academic degree (at M.A. level) in Musicology with an emphasis on Historical Musicology/Music History OR academic teaching degree (at M.A. level) with a focus on Music, both rated at least “good” (2.0 or better, according to the German academic evaluation scale).
  • Sound knowledge of European music history.
  • International experience as part of a study or research stay abroad.
  • The complete application must be accompanied by a digital copy of the most recent relevant academic thesis and a two-page dissertation exposé in the field of music history (19th through 21st centuries), preferably with reference to Italy.


Preferred skills:

  • Proven knowledge of English (proof not required if native speaker).
  • Proven knowledge of Italian (proof not required if native speaker).
  • Proven experience with musicological research projects.
  • Proven experience in teaching at university-level.
  • Proven intercultural competence (e.g., through special commitment).
