Research Associate (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, fixed-term and full-time position (currently 40 hours per week)

This is a fixed term-position of three years with the possibility of extending the contract for a further three years, postdoctoral position for academic qualification (habilitation or equivalent) corresponding to § 72 HHG i. V. m. § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 2 WissZeitVG.

The prospective research associate is expected to become actively involved in the research and teaching activities at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering. This is a full-time postdoctoral position with the goal of academic qualification (habilitation or equivalent). We offer a fixed term-contract with initial employment of 3 years. An extension to 6 years in total is subject to a positive assessment.


Task:

  • Contribution to research and teaching at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Participation in ongoing research at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering in the field of foundation engineering.
  • Development of an independent line of research consistent with the resources available at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering and acquisition of third-party-funding to establish a research team.
  • Publication of research results in high-ranked international peer-reviewed journals
  • Development and conduction of courses in the civil and environmental engineering programs at the University of Kassel.
  • Co-supervision of PhD students as well as supervision of bachelor and master students.

Requirements:

  • Completed course of academic study (Master degree) within the field of civil engineering.
  • Doctoral degree in geotechnical engineering. The required degree must be obtained by the recruitment date at the latest.
  • Publications in relevant international peer-reviewed journals in the field of geotechnical engineering.
  • Very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken.

Beneficial additional qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of German, both written and spoken.
  • Particularly high motivation, organizational skills and sense of responsibility.
  • High level of commitment in supervising students.
  • Very good knowledge in numerical methods in geotechnical engineering, especially FEM.
  • Experience in conducting and evaluating advanced soil mechanical laboratory tests.
  • Experience in conducting and evaluating geotechnical field and model tests.
