The professorship is expected to cover topics and issues concerning the relationship between social work and education in respect to fields of social work in teaching and research as well as the growing up of children and young people from a social and educational science perspective. Teaching tasks involve university courses in particular in the BA programme »Social Work« as well as in the MA programmes "Social Pedagogy in Education, Training and Further Education" and "Diversity - Research - Social Work". Research should focus on the teaching and appropriation of professionalism in social work as well as the organization, development and design of educational processes in fields of social work. In addition, the professorship shall address profession-theoretical, organisation-related, and action-related research questions as well as target-group-specific issues with respect to processes of education and transition and their social pedagogical support, including their methodical-didactic foundations.
Participation in the further development of the courses at the Institute for Social Work and involvement in research networks (e.g. FoSS, Zell) as well as in the shared research activities on »empirical educational research" of the University of Kassel are welcome. With this position to be filled, the University of Kassel aims to strengthen the professionalisation of teachers and trainers of social pedagogy. Cooperation in academic self-management is an obligatory integral part of this position.
Research activities related to didactics of social pedagogy or confirmed exceptional didactic skills in teaching are very welcome. In addition, experience in the acquisition of research funds and a commitment in academic administration are expected. The applicant is characterised by a high level of her/his didactic skills. Relevant experience in university teaching as well as relevant publications and the ability to teach in German are prerequisites. In addition, experience in the acquisition of third-party funds and an international orientation are expected.
The advertised position is subject to the requirements set out in paragraphs §§ 67, 68 of the Higher Education Act of Hessen (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz). In particular, the qualification for scientific work, usually demonstrated by habilitation or equivalent achievements, and pedagogical aptitude are required.
