The Faculty of Human Sciences, Institute of Education is seeking a highly qualified individual for the following position:

The professor is expected to represent the subject in both research and teaching with a special focus on upper secondary level. The applicant’s profile should be characterised by research activities and relevant publications in the fields of teaching and school development at upper secondary level and focus on at least one of the following current challenges in the education system: digitalisation, diversity and/or transitions (to upper secondary level or from upper secondary level to an employment or university studies).
Applicants will have highly developed didactic skills and relevant experience in university teaching. The professor will be responsible for teaching tasks in educational and social sciences core elements of teaching degrees (L1/L2/L3/L4) and he*she is particularly expected to become involved in the introductory module. Teaching activities could also include courses for master students of empirical educational research. Besides teaching and research, the official duties of the professor include promoting early-career researchers, taking responsibility for the student research centre on upper school (FORGOS). Participating in university committees and administering academic affairs are obligatory integral parts of the position to be filled.
The future holder of the post shall strengthen the University’s specialisation in “empirical educational research”. We are looking for a person whose profile is characterized by the application of empirical research methods, international research contacts and established cooperations as well as success in raising third-party funds competitively. The professor is also expected to become involved in research networks (e.g. ZELL) at the University of Kassel in the future.
The prerequisites for employment and performance requirements are determined by §§ 67, 68 of the Higher Education Act of the Federal State of Hesse (HessHG). The applicant must have gained an excellent doctoral degree. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis or adequate publication activities) or equivalent academic qualifications (for example as W1 Professor or Assistant Professor). Applicants should have had three years of practical teaching experience at a school. The ability to teach in German is a prerequisite for a successful application.
