We are looking for a person to head the conceptual design, organization and representation of the Department of the Economics of Urban and Regional Development both in the Institute of Urban Development and in cooperation with related departments of the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Landscape Planning. The Dept is responsible for teaching urban and regional planners at all stages of the B.Sc. and M. Sc. degrees.
Teaching duties in the B.Sc. program include teaching the basics of urban and regional economics and real estate and housing economics as well as contributing to the interdisciplinary basics of architecture, construction and planning. In the M.Sc. program, a particular focus of the Dept is the in-depth teaching of sustainable urban and regional development. In addition, regular planning studios have to be offered.
The special subjects of research and teaching in the Dept are:
• Infrastructure and public services, municipal finances
• Real estate and housing economics, project development
• Production, distribution and consumption of goods and services
With respect to the spatial developments of social transformation in the urban, suburban or rural periphery context.
Willingness to cooperate with other departments of Faculty 06, also within the framework of interdisciplinary research projects, is expected.
The employment and performance requirements apply pursuant to §§ 61, 62 of the Higher Education Act of Hessen. Candidates considered will have appropriate research and teaching experience in the field of urban and regional development as well as a degree in the field of economics, spatial planning, geography, social sciences or related subjects. As proof of academic qualification a PhD or habilitation degree (post-doctoral degree) or the equivalent research achievements (for example in the form of academic qualifications) are provided.
Experience in procuring third-party funded projects is expected. Research on topics of urban and regional development requires the ability to carry out interdisciplinary work. Teaching ability should be demonstrated by extensive teaching experience, preferably in planning courses. In addition, experience in project-oriented teaching is also desirable.
