We are looking for a person as a full professor with an outstanding academic record who will represent and further develop the section “Sociology of Social Differentiation” in research and make a continuous contribution to the sociological foundation of undergraduate teaching in the BA program in Social Work and the institute's master's programs. It is envisaged that the person to be appointed will play a leading role in coordinating and developing the master's course “Diversity - Research - Social Work”. Overall, theory and research approaches will be taught in the tradition of Max Weber’s sociology in the field of inequality and differentiation research (with topics such as: gender and intersectionality, social problems/social control, or social bureaucratic administrative mechanisms), and this with recourse to relevant social science methods. Previous work in empirical social research should reflect a concern with problems and issues of social work. Prospectively, the section is expected to further develop the theoretical profile of inequality and diversity research through appropriate research activities and, at the same time, to be able to address the scientific priorities of the department, faculty and university, also in consideration of international perspectives.

The future post holder will have proven expertise in the above-mentioned areas and will be able to demonstrate sound academic knowledge in this field. A relevant profile and experience in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects as well as experience in university teaching are expected.

The recruitment requirements and performance requirements in accordance with §§ 67, 68 HessHG apply. In particular, the qualification is proven by an above-average doctorate in sociology or the social sciences, habilitation or additional academic achievements proven by relevant publications. A curriculum vitae, certificates, diplomas, a list of academic work and a list of previously taught courses supplemented by teaching evaluations or evidence of further training in higher education didactics must be submitted with the application.
