The position involves research and teaching of architectural design with special reference to aspects of materials and building construction in its spatial, environmental, functional, technological and creative dimensions.

The successful candidate, within the framework of the curriculum, will teach the methods, objects and instruments of design and construction and supervise design projects and Bachelor and Master degree theses. In collaboration with the Departments of Structural Design, Construction Physics and Technical Building Services he/she will be responsible for teaching the basic elements of building construction in the B.Sc. degree course. In the Master's, the specialization Design Research Building Construction is offered. As part of this program, selected student projects are designed and developed from the concept phase to the details of implementable solutions using specific materials.

The successful candidate is expected to be willing to collaborate with other Departments, e.g. Structural Design, Design and Sustainable Construction, Building Theory, Design in Stock, Digital Design as well as at the interface of urban and landscape planning.

Special attention is devoted to research and teaching in construction: new materials, sustainable use of materials, materials cycles. material-specific design, digital planning, production and construction techniques as well as the transfer of new technologies to architecture.

Applicants considered will be architects with outstanding achievements in design and concept who have several years of qualified professional experience of design outside the university. Particular value is placed on the applicants own conceptually strong architectural work as well as innovative structural approaches. Teaching experience and experience in scientific work are required. Experience in acquiring and processing third-party funded projects is desirable.

Employment terms and remunerations are in accordance with §§ 61, 62 of the Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Law of Hessen).
