The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is seeking a highly qualified individual for the following position:

This is a full-time position and in accordance with the prerequisites § 64 (3) of the Higher Education Act of Hesse (HHG), it is first limited to six years, but tenured as W2 professorship upon positive evaluation.
The professorship is funded by the Tenure Track Program of the German Federal Government and the Federal States. This announcement is targeted to scientists in an early career stage yet showing already exceptional potential for scientific success and for the development of an innovative research agenda.
We seek a personality with thematic focus in research and teaching on at least one of the following topics:
• methods of information retrieval from multi sensor systems,
• prediction and state estimation in automation of networked processes,
• distributed control of complex systems,
• methods of AI in automated systems with applications, e.g., in energy systems, cyber-physical production
systems or processes at nano scale.
Given an interdisciplinary environment at University of Kassel, the candidate is expected to cooperate with groups working on system analytics and control, nano structure science and technology, or energy system design.
Teaching duties extend to the Bachelor and Master curricula in electrical engineering and mechatronics, in particular, with respect to courses on modeling and automation of dynamic processes as well as methods on data processing and estimation methods for networked systems.
The interest in and willingness to attract third-party funding from agencies such as the German research foundation (DFG) and as part of cooperative groups is expected. Contribution to academic self-administration to a reasonable extent is expected, too.
• Scientific excellence must be demonstrated by an outstanding dissertation, a significant record of peer-reviewed
international publications – preferably in high-ranking journals – and by successful participations in research
• The potential to develop an innovative research program in the thematic area of the professorship should be
demonstrated by the application material.
• Pedagogic aptitude and enthusiasm for academic teaching as well as the ability to teach in German and English
language are required.
• Experience in attracting third-party funding and participation in research collaborations is a plus.
The employment and performance requirements apply pursuant to §§ 61, 64 (3) of the Higher Education Act of Hessen.
