The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a highly qualified individual for the following position:

The fixed-term position is limited to a period of six years in accordance with § 64(1) of the Higher Education Act of Hessen (Professur mit Entwicklungszusage). Upon successful tenure evaluation, a permanent W 3 professorship will be conferred.
We are looking for a person with a strong research record and substantial teaching experience who specializes in the field of energy conversion technologies and thermo-fluid dynamics, especially concerning the investigation of energy conversion components or apparatuses for decentralized energy systems. The potential appointee is required to demonstrate research activities in these areas by high-ranking peer-reviewed publications, also in international journals, and the successful acquisition of external funding.
The successful candidate is expected to expand and complement the spectrum of methods applied at the Institute of Thermal Engineering with regard to innovative experimental, theoretical and numerical research, e. g. in the fields of combined heat and power systems (micro gas turbines, fuel cells, etc.), novel thermodynamic cycles, innovative heat pumps or their components (pumps, compressors, expansion machines, etc.). The successful candidate will have completed a doctoral degree with a grade of “very good” (or better) and is expected to professionally represent the field in research and instruction.
The professorship “Energy Conversion Technologies” will teach courses on fluid dynamics and turbo machines in the Master’s program “Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency” and contribute to the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs of Mechanical Engineering (and other faculties, if needed).
The employment and performance requirements apply pursuant to §§ 61, 62, 64(1) of the Higher Education Act of Hessen.
