|Date of Hire:||as soon as possible
We are looking for a scientifically outstanding personality, representing the field of “Soil Science” with a focus on soil physics under temperate climatic as well as tropical and subtropical conditions in research and teaching and thus contributing to the consolidation of the profile of Organic Agricultural Sciences in the national and international context.
Soil fertility is at the center of thinking and action in organic agriculture. In research and teaching, one focus of the professorship is on the study of nutrient and pollutant dynamics in soils, taking into account water balance, matter balancing and process modeling. Another focus is on the control of nutrient and energy fluxes preferably in organic agriculture through soil management and the prevention of soil pollution through erosion and compaction. Experimental research approaches will include agricultural field and laboratory experiments incorporating sensor-based soil physics methods, and will also employ agricultural experimental design, multivariate data analysis, and process-based soil physics modeling.
The successful candidate is expected to offer courses that provide basic and advanced instruction in general soil science, soil physics, and site science, with an emphasis on water, nutrient, humus, and contaminant budgets. The professorship should develop and implement committed and innovative teaching formats in the German-language BSc or MSc programs "Organic Agriculture" as well as in the English-language MSc program "Sustainable International Agriculture".
Applicants must have a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements with a focus on soil science. Expertise in several of the topics mentioned above proven by relevant, international peer-reviewed publications and successful acquisition of research funds are expected.
