The Kunsthochschule Kassel (KhK) is an internationally oriented art university that brings together artistic, design, art education and scientific courses of study. With the right to award doctorates and habilitations, it is one of the few art colleges in Germany with university status. With the Graduate School for Moving Image (GBB), a postgraduate structure has been in place in the artistic degree programmes since 2020.
We are looking for a personality with nationally and internationally renowned artistic and creative practice as a filmmaker, who can ensure a correspondingly contemporary education for students in the existing major in Film and Moving Image together within the Visual Communication degree programme. The teaching of creative and artistic moving image competence should take place with the inclusion of contemporary and historical developments and on the basis of currently changing audio-visual areas and their use. Contemporary technical, media-specific, political, social and film and moving image theoretical dimensions are to be addressed in the teaching. Cooperation with other degree programmes at the Kunsthochschule and participation in media-related development projects is expected. Participation in the GBB is a prerequisite.
The Kunsthochschule Kassel is part of the network of the Hessian Film and Media Academy (hFMA). In this regard, existing experience or experience to be built up with third-party funding and cooperation with state-wide and regional institutions, in particular the Hessian Film and Media Promotion (HessenFilm und Medien GmbH), is desirable. Supervision of the study projects funded by HessenFilm as well as participation in the coordination of self-initiated funding structures are among the tasks of the professorship to be filled.
Experience in higher education pedagogy as well as special skills in cooperative, interdisciplinary work are required, also required is the ability to teach in English. A concept for qualified independent teaching must be presented. Participation in academic self-administration is part of the official duties.
