We are looking for a scientifically outstanding personality who conducts research on current and innovative topics in the field of solid construction, successfully publishes the results with high national and international visibility and inspires students and staff for these topics. The focus of basic research lies in the areas of experimental development and numerical modelling of structures in solid construction and is aimed at both new constructions and existing structures.

Nationally and internationally visible research is expected in one or more of the following subject areas:

  • Structures and load-bearing structures also using alternative reinforcement elements and high-performance building materials (in particular UHPC / UHPFRC)
  • Evaluation and reinforcement of existing structures
  • Circular construction
  • Safety and reliability of structures in solid and hybrid construction
  • Structures under dynamic loads
  • Modular structures with and without reinforcement
  • Soil-structure interaction.

Experience with the application for and realisation of third-party funded projects as well as the willingness to lead coordinated research projects is expected. It is also expected that the applicant is familiar with the planning and construction processes of sophisticated solid constructions from his/her own experience in order to ensure practical relevance in teaching and engineering research on this basis.

The professorship represents solid construction in the teaching of the civil engineering and environmental engineering degree programmes across the board. Within the degree programme, solid construction and its effects on the construction and sustainability of buildings and engineering structures should also be taught in an application-oriented manner.

A completed qualified doctorate is required as an academic qualification as well as a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements in the form of scientific publications and, if applicable, additional engineering services for demanding structures. In addition to the ability to cooperate and work in a team, higher education didactics are expected, which is proven by relevant teaching experience, as well as sound experience in research in the profile of the professorship, demonstrated, among other things, by the acquisition of third-party funds and the implementation of research projects. In-depth experience in the application of experimental methods is required. Participation in committees of the university's academic self-administration is part of the duties. Teaching is to be held in German.

Full-time position. The prerequisites for employment and performance requirements are determined by §§ 67, 68 of the Higher Education Act of the Federal State of Hesse (HessHG).
