A person with strong research skills and teaching experience is sought for an early succession to continue leading the unit established by the present holder of the position. Its future holder is expected to represent the subject of vocational and business education in research and teaching in its entire breadth, with particular emphasis on research and teaching in at least two of the following areas:
• Vocational education theory
• National and international vocational training policy
• Management of educational institutions (incl. vocational school development)
• Professionalisation of VET staff
• Empirical VET research (qualitative and/or quantitative) with reference to the social organisation of occupation and work
The future holder of this position should demonstrate his/her expertise through relevant national and, if possible, international peer-reviewed publications in high ranked journals. National and/or international research activities with appropriate networking are expected. The successful acquisition of third-party funding is a prerequisite.
A willingness to engage in academic networking within the university, especially in the faculties of Economics and Management as well as Education is, apart from an active participation in at least one of the faculty’s main research areas, a prerequisite.
The teaching duties are to be fulfilled in the Bachelor's and Master's teaching degree programmes L4 (with the vocational specialisations Health, Business & Administration, Metal Technology and Electrical Engineering). The teaching of the fields of expertise takes place within the 'Education and Social Sciences Core Studies' of the University of Kassel, currently with main emphasis on the contents "Introduction to Vocational and Business Education", "Co-designing Institutions of Vocational Education" as well as "Promoting, Diagnosing and Counselling in Vocational Education".
Participation in academic self-administration is part of the official duties. The future holder of the position will, among other things, be in charge of the Examination Office for Vocational and Business Education and chair the Examination Committee for Vocational and Business Education.
The hiring requirements and performance requirements according to §§ 61, 62 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) apply. In particular: The aptitude for academic work, normally proven by a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements, as well as pedagogical aptitude.
