The University of Kassel is seeking applications for as many as four scholarships to enable doctoral candidates to complete their doctoral thesis in order to promote projects that are well advanced at the University of Kassel.

Target group

Doctoral candidates at the University of Kassel are eligible to apply if they are just about to complete their doctorate.

Amount of the scholarship

The scholarship is worth EUR 1,300 per month. A supplement of EUR 200 per month is possible for candidates who are looking after children.

Term

The scholarship is granted for up to 12 months. The main goal of a completion scholarship is to ensure that candidates conclude the process and submit their paper during the funding period. As a rule, the funding period is 1 April 2024 up to 31 March 2025.

Selection procedure

The committee for doctoral scholarships makes decisions on awarding the scholarships according to how likely it is that the doctoral thesis will be successfully submitted within the period that has been requested. The aim of compensating for any disadvantages that occur for doctoral candidates should also apply. The criteria for compensating for any disadvantages that occur include special burdens, such as those caused by taking care of children, one´s own chronic illness or serious illness or disability. Compensation for disadvantages must not have already taken place through similar funding instruments of the university. The committee for doctoral scholarships consists of the current Vice-President, at least three professors and an academic employee.
